Manager Quality Systems - Sydney

Ideal Veteran:

The ideal veteran for this role is a CPL/SGT with recent military experience having worked in a HQ or training command having experience in quality assurance and risk management.

What's on offer:

The Training Environment Support Centre (TESC) is a new capability for the Army for the implementation of the new training framework DATE (Decisive Action Training Environment). This role is for a Manager Quality Systems who will:

• Ensure that quality standards and systems meet performance standards mandated by US TRADOC in line with the DATE MOU.
• Conduct environmental analysis to identify leading practice trends and examples in relation to training delivery and quality assurance practices.
• Ensure that resources required to implement, maintain and continually improve DATE training is sufficient to meet quality standards.
• Ensure that risk management practices are robust and are sufficient to identify and mitigate all risks rated as high or extreme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, coordinate and deliver ia quality assurance and risk management  framework for the systematic management of training quality as it pertains to the operating environment, core DATE activities, training processes, employees, contractors and suppliers to the TESC.
• Develop and implement in consultation with US Army G2 TRADOC a quality assurance policy to ensure Australian compliance to the ABCANZ DATE MoU.
• Develop, coordinate and deliver an assurance program to ensure the achievement of military training quality / standards / effect.
• Prescribe quality responsibilities and accountabilities for Defence delivery of DATE in training (incl: trainers, contractors, military personnel and suppliers).
• Support business improvement initiatives and change management processes through promulgation of improvement initiatives, recommendations and corrective actions identified through quality reviews.
• Works with the Assistant Director TESC Operations to identify issues from customer complaints/enquiries.
• Promotes a performance culture and customer focus.
• Maintain an effective and safe working environment.

About the Opportunity:

The Training Environment Support Centre (TESC) is a new capability for the Army in the DATE (Decisive Action Training Environment) implementation. The TESC will implement and manage a wide range of related DATE sub-projects which will be progressively identified, refined and implemented over the next three year period. The principal and immediate task is to execute the program of work, comprising 23 projects, that will provide the foundation for the implementation of DATE.

Many of the projects relate to establishing and consolidating effective governance and performance management arrangements as well as the development of next generation training tools and ION capability to enhance Army capability. Appropriate change management and communication strategies will be required to complement these projects to ensure their effective implementation.

The primary role of the TESC will be to ensure good governance practices, robust project management, consistent quality standards and assurance disciplines to optimise the benefits of a major investment in change management, such as the implementation of DATE training.

By making transparent responsibility for project delivery the TESC will provide the consistency and discipline necessary to ensure delivery of Army’s capability needs.
